NAGA CITY, Dec. 22 — The projected launch and opening of the Shoemart (SM) Mall by the first quarter of the coming year will generate some 4,000 new job openings for prospective job seekers.

According to Florencio Mongoso, Manager of the Naga City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), they will conduct pre-employment service to process some applicants for some 3,000 jobs for SM Naga City and another 1,000 jobs for locators who will do business inside the mall.

Mongoso said they will start processing applicants to ensure they posses the necessary qualifications and requirements in a jobs fair slated on January 23 to 24 and 30 to 31, next year. NAGA CITY—Amid the impending negative effect of the economic crunch expected to hit the country next year, this landlocked small city of 160,000-population would expect jobs boom with the opening soon of the newest Shoe Mart (SM) Mall when some 4,000 workers are taken in the first quarter of 2009.
